The Beirut Protests

This is what non-violent protest looks like:

1559 refers to the UN resolution calling on Syria to end its occupation of Lebanon. Here are some more thumbnail photos (click for larger version):

 



The text reads: "Resign!" in refernce to the Syrian-backed government in Lebanon.

There was also a simultaneous protest outside the Syrian Embassy in Washington, DC:

UPDATE: A few hundred miles to the southwest of Beirut, 3,000 Egyptians gathered in Cairo today to protest Hosni Mubarak's continued rule as Egypt's unelected leader - holding signs that read "Enough!". Unprecedented.
