The pressure on Bashar Assad continues to grow. This weekend saw an interesting conference take place in Washington, DC, as activists demanding an end to the Assad dictatorship gathered for a two-day conference. Elaph has picked up the story, which otherwise seems to have gone unreported. What makes the private gathering particularly unusual is that it united not only activists from a range of political ideologies, but also from the external and internal opposition. In other words, Syrian exiles spoke, but also leading opposition figures called in from Syria to address the conference. A historic moment. Ammar calls it "The Breakthough."
I have been trying to find a published English translation of this article so that I can add a report about it on SyriaForum.org.
Haven't had any luck yet. Do you happen to know of any?
