With International Women's Day fast approaching next week, Tel Quel magazine has once again pulled a mini-stunt for the occasion. As it did last year, Tel Quel has renamed itself for the week with the nicely feminized name Telle Quelle. (We noted last year's stellar issue here.)
This year's women's day issue is chock full of great material: an article looks at the future of Morocco's feminist movement in the wake of family law reform; a debate forum includes an Islamist and a liberal and "hesitant"; and a feature story lets Morocco's long-suffering domestic maids speak out.
The cover story is an interview with Afropop diva Najat Aatabou, whose songs encourage women to be independent and discover themselves. As she notes in the interview, "I sing to defend women."
