I THOUGHT ALLAH IS SUPPOSED TO BE MERCIFUL??? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!! WOMEN ARE WORTH NOTHING IN ISLAM. THE KING SHOULD FORGIVE THIS WOMAN, OR PARDON HER EVEN THOUGH I FEEL SHE HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG! THE RAPISTS GOT OFF THOUGH DIDN'T THEY.IT IS SHAMEFUL!

Why wont men owe up to the fact that they get horny so easily? they have make up excuses and laws that forbid women their freedom. Men think that it is the womans fault for "tempting" them. That is why they make them cover up from head to toe and they make laws that dont permit women to be with men with no familial relation. Men on the other hand can gallivant and do whatever they want?! There is no excuse or justification for the rape of the woman. I don't care about respecting their religion or culture. No culture who permits the punishment of a woman who was GANG RAPED deserves no understanding or respect.

If she wasn't out with some one she wasn't supposed to be with (unrelated male) she would not have gotten gang raped. He probably planned the rape because he is a sick guy. But my point is if she wasn't out whith an unrelated guy she wouldnt get punished at all if she was raped, which rarely happens in saudi arabia unless girls start dating whith any guy then their will be many rape cases like in many other countries like america they have allot of rapes. Even 4 american soldiers in Iraq killed a 14 year old girls family then gang raped her and killed her.

It has always mystified me how a religion that demands violent punishments could survive for so long without any form of rebellion or revolution among its people. Or perhaps it is these cruel punishments that have discouraged believers to stay in line. However, as much as I hate to say it, this happened in Saudi Arabia, not the United States. One of my greatest fears is that if we lose this war on terrorism, America would be forced to either convert to this sick religion or be killed. Neither choice appeals to me, an educated woman and aspiring journalist- two things that I would be stoned for or beheaded had I been born on the other side of the planet. What you all fail to realize is that these people are animals. Very intelligent animals, but hideous beasts who refuse to become civilized in a world in which most of its inhabitants have agreed on democracy and equal rights.
For a country that has for so long paraded and prattled on about independence and freedom and democracy, we are too spineless to stand up and declare such views to the rest of the world when a tragedy such as this happens to someone who is completely innocent. I do not blame the man she was with, I blame the men who raped her, who were married and had a choice whether to follow their impulses or not, and the men in the court who are so insecure about their power that they would punish a gang-rape victim. But beyond that, it is not the men themselves, but their religion that have been so forcefully thrust upon them by government that they no longer question it. We live our lives apart from this, so thankless that we were not born into this cult- no, not cult, I am embarrassed to say it is a religion. We are free people. We speak it, hear it, live it, but are so spoiled by it that we fail to realize what it means anymore. If we were truly free, and believed our laws and tolerances to truly be good, why won't we stand up and tell these people they are wrong? Why let a religion oppressing free men and women continue to exist? We fought Hitler to save millions of innocent Jewish people death. Now let us fight this new world villain to save millions of those living in the Middle East.

Let Saudi Arabia deal with the problems of Saudi Arabia. No need for US or anyone else to join in where they dont belong. That is their law and we must accept that (however sickening it might be) because it is their country. But I for one would never allow anyone of my loved ones to go to that country. I suggest everyone do the same too.
